Le logiciel pour la pièce Obeying the Laws of Physics (Obéissant aux lois de la physique) établit une situation interactive faite de quatre régions de timbres — chacune représantant une famille d’instruments. Le percussionniste explore chaque région et contrôle les transitions d’une aire sonore à l’autre en jouant certains motifs dérivés de techniques de jeu de percussion. L’ordinateur ne connaît aucune partition précomposée — l’exécution de la pièce est entièrement laissée au percussionniste et ne requiert pas d’intervention de la part d’un régisseur à l’ordinateur. |

The software for Obeying the Laws of Physics defines an interactive environment consisting of four timbral regions — each representing a different instrumental family. The percussionist explores each region and controls transitions from one to another using cues derived from specific percussion playing techniques. The computer knows no precomposed score — the performance is completely controlled by the percussionist and requires no intervention on the part of a computer operator. |

Le présent enregistrement a été réalisé au studio audionumérique Luscar du Banff Centre for the Arts en juillet 1990. |
